here is a useful trick i use for a while: if you prefer thinking by writing try writing only the first letter of each word and without punctuations. you still get the benefits of thinking by writing but you are free from typing the tail of the words. this allows you to immediately focus on the next word or thought. first time you might realize being slow, brain pauses to finish the word instead of thinking the next one. but you get used to it. you wont be able to reead what you wrote but that is not important for this exercise. i think the main goal for this is to put the brain on a rail and think the thoughts. that is how writing helps me.

there are a few variations i am experimenting:

  • b: separate each letter (word initial) with space. this is for starters because we are too used to hitting space after every word.
  • z: separate each sentence with newline
  • m: separate each sentence with space
  • o: write a single stream with no spaces or newlines
